News   Robot Wars returns!
- Posted By Travis Coats, 04.01.2002

If you ever felt that maybe there just weren't enough robot games on the market, then this press release is for you.

BATTLE COMMENCES AS WARTHOG SIGNS DEAL WITH BBC MULTIMEDIA TO STAGE ROBOT WARS

BBC Multimedia has chosen Warthog plc, the interactive entertainment software group, to develop its next Robot Wars game for Game Boy Advance.

Robot Wars began in California in the early 90's and has been televised in the UK for four years. The television show pits home-built robots against the mighty house gladiators in a battle to win honour and prestige amongst their peers. The show's combination of 'home built' robots and metallic combat has brought the series cult status in 16 countries with many of the combatants enjoying an almost celebrity status in their own right.

The Warthog game, 'Robot Wars Extreme', will build on the success of the first Robot Wars games released last year. The games will feature cutting edge real-time 3D model rendering on the Game Boy Advance and feature robot building as much as robot bashing. The game will also feature significant advances in Artificial Intelligence for the hand-held system with a new scoring/judging system being implemented.

Tim Coupe, Warthog's VP of Mobile and Hand Held Games commented:

"Robot Wars is a great franchise to be working with and it will be a real challenge to translate the genuine excitement of the TV show to the Game Boy Advance; with our 3D technology, we will be pushing the platform to the cutting edge."

Ok, sounds... interesting if nothing else. Hey, whatever floats your boat.

NSports will have a detailed preview when more information becomes available.
