Preview Driver 2
- By Travis Coats
Buckle up! The fast pace action of the smash hit Driver is featured on Driver 2 for the Game Boy Advance.
For anyone who has played the original game, apparently there was this guy named Tanner, who drove the getaway car during bank robberies. This is real quality entertainment here folks. In this version an international gang war has erupted, and ol' Tanner is caught in the crossfire. Here's hoping he gets a round in his rear. (Crime doesn't pay kiddies.)
Aside from rampant and uninhibited crime, the game also features...
Spectacular collisions, with realistic damage modeling, that affects vehicle performance for those of you who just can't get enough violence.
The ability to leave your car and commandeer any other car on the road is also included. This is always good. I like how they use the word "commandeer". Let's just call it what it really is shall we? STEALING.
Single-player missions include A to B, Tail, Seek and Destroy.
Multi-player support allows up to four players to burn rubber in Free for All, Cops 'n' Robbers, Checkpoint and Cross-town race modes. Wait a second, cops and robbers? You mean someone actually gets to play a good guy? I stand amazed.
Superior driving physics and graphics include sliding and crashing, fire and car shadows. Yes indeed, more carnage for the masses.
In-game audio realistically recreates tire screeching, engine-howling, roars and driver screams. Driver screams... Wow, have we hit the bottom of the barrel on this one or what?
Well, this preview is pretty depressing. Perhaps someday games might actually contain less violence and hate. There's a pleasant thought.
For those of you that are into this kind of thing, the game releases in September.
