Preview Shaun Palmer's Pro Snowboarder
- By Travis Coats
My experience with Shaun Palmer’s Pro Snowboarder isn’t exactly what you would call pleasant. Now perhaps it was just the limited time I spent with the game or the fact that I couldn’t figure out the controls, but I was not impressed with the version I played at this year’s e3.
Still, I’m probably just jumping to conclusions since the game wasn’t even near being finished when I tried it out. On a positive note, the game will feature all kinds of goodies such as…
Five characters to choose from, including the legendary Shaun Palmer.
Four different locations with a total of sixteen tracks.
Multiple game modes such as bordercross and freestyle.
A half-pipe area that allows for the execution of multiple tricks and challenges.
Looking at all of these features makes the game seem pretty promising, but let me tell you that in my experience the half-pipe area was absolutely horrible. It was using a semi 3D effect that just didn’t look right. On top of that it was also very difficult to generate any momentum needed to perform any sort of tricks or stunts. Once again this may be due to my lack of skill with the game, but I still think if this title is to sell a respectable amount then some improvements in this area need to be made.
That is of course only my opinion; take from it what you will.
