Review  WCW/NWO Revenge
- By  []

I was very excited about this game, when I first read about it I thought that it could be great. I had already played Wcw vs Nwo World Tour for the N64 to death. So obviously I couldn't wait for the sequel, and when I first brought the game home and saw the intro I fell in love with this game. I have played this game almost everyday since I first got it when it first came out in December 98 and can still honestly say I have never got bored off it, now that may seem a little farfetched but it is the absolute truth. Well here is the run down on the major point of this game.

Aesthetics:

I like Revenge's graphics, it is a lot better than WT's graphics but arguable not as good as Warzone's graphics. The wrestlers look more realistic than WT's but not as much as Warzone's. It may be a little outdated but everything runs smooth and fluent. Lots of new animations, I love the ring entrance's, they look wicked and are very true to the real thing. If only it had wrestler's theme music, then it would be perfect. Anyway the graphics are very good and do the job nicely. Overall: I have been a huge wrestling and videogame fan my whole life, so it is only natural that when a wrestling videogame comes out I play it heaps. But I wouldn't play something so much if I didn't like it. But this game had me hooked ever since I first played it. While this game may not appeal to everyone, fans of wrestling should not pass up this game. Even if you are not a big fan of wrestling you could still find this game fun. Bring some friends around to your house, and the fun gets even better. This is definitely one of the best multi-player games around and most probably one of the best if not the best wrestling game of all time. It beats the pants of those lame WCW games on PSX. I highly recommend this game.

Sound:
Sound is Revenge's lowest point, no individual wrestler theme music which seems to be a huge factor now a days. Anyway the music isn't that bad really, sort of fits in with the game. No commentary but we do get Macho Man's Ooohhhh Yeah! Sound should have been better.

Gameplay:
This game runs on an enhanced version of the WT (Wcw vs Nwo World Tour) engine. For those of you who have no idea what I just said that means that THQ (the guys that made the recent WCW games) used the same technology that they used to make WT, but updated it a little. There are now over 60 wrestlers from Sting to Juventud Guerrera. There is no create your own wrestler feature ala WWF Warzone but you can edit the featured wrestlers by changing their names and costumes. Revenge plays very similar to WT, which isn't a bad thing in my opinion. I prefer the grappling system from Revenge rather than Warzone's way of gameplay, I know some people reading this will feel the opposite but that is just my opinion. There are a whole heap of options from the wicked battle royal to a normal singles match. You can even wrestle for WCW titles. There are a lot more weapons you can get now as well, not just chairs and bats anymore, you can now get trash cans, briefcases and even a gold trophy. All in all this game improves greatly on the all ready great WT game which means more fun for us fans. One go and you will be hooked 4-Life.
